Bookmaker.com.au is a brand new player in the competitive Australian racing and sports betting market. Only launched as recently as February 2012, this Brisbane based bookmaker has got off to a good start with a very nicely laid out website, and attractive opening bonuses for new players. A quick look at the homepage and it is clear to see that the site is neatly laid out and divided into three sections – racing, sports and novelty bets. The majority of markets at Bookmaker.com.au certainly fall under the first two categories and is perhaps even slightly more geared towards racing.

Sports Covered

Although it may be fair to assume that Bookmaker.com.au is not quite the finished article yet, they still have a healthy selection of sports betting markets available. All of the major Australian sports are covered, from Australian Rules to NRL, as well as international and American sports too. When you open up the sports betting section of the Bookmaker.com.au website, all of the various markets are clearly laid out in front of you, showing you immediately which sports currently have active markets. On occasion, the sports markets could do with a few more intricate bets to place, rather than the straight-up head-to-head markets available, although again, this may only be a matter of time with such a young bookmaker.

Racing Coverage

The racing betting available at Bookmaker.com.au is already excellent. As well as all of the major Australian and Kiwi racetracks being covered, the biggest international meetings are too. The very cleanly laid out website certainly makes it easy to find the bet you are looking for, and if you are simply looking for the next race to start, the next five races are shown in the top left-hand corner, as well as the amount of time until they begin. Most available races can be bet on with straightforward bets such as win or place, as well as exotics such as quinella, trifecta etc. There are also some very good racing products already available such as top fluctuation, best tote and fixed price betting. As well as horse racing, there is also plenty of coverage of greyhound racing and harness racing. The racing coverage available is more than likely the strong point of Bookmaker.com.au at the moment.

Other Markets

Although there is a whole tab dedicated to novelty markets, in reality, there are only four subsections to choose from; current affairs, elections, entertainment and financial. Nevertheless, when there are active markets within these sections, they are always pretty interesting and make a nice change from regular sports betting or racing betting.

Live Betting

As usual for an Australian bookmaker, live betting is only available by phone at Bookmaker.com.au. Even so, placing a bet over the phone is made as easy as possible and can certainly add some spice to watching a game of any sport. It is surely only a matter of time until live betting is freely available with Australian based bookmakers.

Mobile Betting

There is currently no mobile betting platform to use with Bookmaker.com.au. Many phones will be able to use the standard website however, and being such a new bookmaker, perhaps this is something that is in the works for the near future. It seems inevitable that a new, modern day Australian bookmaker will introduce a mobile betting platform before long.

Summary

Overall, Bookmaker.com.au has made a very good impression in its short time online. The website is very cleanly and neatly laid out; making it as easy to use as any other currently available. In this respect, they certainly seem to have learned from the misgivings of some of their rivals. The number of different markets available is also very good; with as much sports betting and racing coverage as the regular punter will need. True, they could introduce a few more types of bet for sporting events, but this is sure to come, and their racing bets are already comprehensive. The welcome bonus is also excellent, and being freshly launched, virtually everyone will be able to benefit from this immediately.
